We are be holding our Christmas Children's party next Wednesday, along with our normal food bank - 21st December 2016, Moorends childrens centre will be closed next week, but all our clients from Moorends are welcome to the Thorne Rugby club food bank and party with their children and see Santa. We shall be closed the week after for Christmas, and open again on the January 4th 2017.

It takes our breath to I see the amount of food and gifts that have been donated by our wonderful community and further afield (businesses and individuals alike)....our food cupboards are full to the brim and there's toys and selection boxes for all children of the families that need us! Special thanks to our friends at Discovery Surveys ( Steve Rafferty ) for the use of a lock-up unit that now allow us to store a very large amount of surplus food.

Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and peaceful 2017 to our clients, supporters, donators and volunteers

Here at the food bank we love the opportunity to share the work of the food bank with local children in the community. This lovely group of children very kindly brought the food from their Harvest Festival food donations. Our volunteer, Jackie gave an informative and enjoyable talk to the children and let them pack some bags. We believe it helps to educate our local community on what we do and in turn to empathise with our many clients who are in food poverty. If you are interested in visiting our food bank or bringing a group of children along to see what we do, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Helping our Community!

This week the volunteers from the food bank had a welcomed visit from South Yorkshire Community Foundation who popped by to take some photographs and a shoot some film for a short promotional video for their website. South Yorkshire Community Foundation provided invaluable help to the food bank and helped us get the start up grant from Tween Bridge Wind Farm. Selection of the photographs they took while visiting us are here, along with the short promotional video they made that includes us.

The website address for the South Yorkshire Community Foundation is:

Thorne Forties Extravaganza

What an amazing weekend!  Thorne Conservation Group have worked incredibly hard to put on an event for the local community with stall holders attending from across the United Kingdom.  The Forties event was a real success and in true British Style, even though it rained the entire weekend it didn't stop the community from having a great time.

Our tombola stall was a real hit, we saw lots of friendly faces and more importantly we raised lots of vital funds for the food bank.  Thank you to Thorne Conservation Group for such a wonderful weekend and thank you to our volunteers for running our very successful stall and of course to all the people who contributed prizes, those who bought tickets and those who stopped by with words of encouragement.
